Dr. Tom Ryan is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the eLearn Institute and also as the President of Education 360 and eMMERSION Learning. He recently retired from Albuquerque Public Schools. His last role with the district was Chief Information Officer. He has worked for public education for over 31 years, as a teacher for 14 years, a high school principal, and district administrator. He has a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Learning Technologies from New Mexico StateUniversity.
Dr. Ryan has developed the Education 360 framework that seeks to transform the way we deliver high quality educational services to students. The traditional “school” model considers “school” as a building that students go to for education. The transformed model brings “school” to students and meets their individual needs. eCADEMY is one example of an Education 360 school that provides blended learning opportunities to credit recovery and drop-out re-engagement students. He was one of the original designers for the nationally recognized New Mexico virtual program called IDEAL-NM.
Dr. Ryan is a national board member of the Consortium of School Network (CoSN), a Senior Fellow with the Center for Digital Education, and board member on Innovate + Educate. He is also a member of several statewide boards including past chair of the NM Council of Technology in Education, NM Technology Council Board member, and NMSTE member and is a founding member of IDEAL-NM Advisory Board. He has served as adjunct faculty for UNM designing and teaching courses online. He works with several national committees such as iNACOL, and the Council of Great City Schools.
